1. Introduction / General Information
Currently our focus is 25 man raiding on Thursday and Sundays, those two nights are considered mandatory for attendance. Since we are a raiding guild (albeit a casual one), if you are online on raid nights for the time-frame the raid is scheduled for, you are expected to attend the raid. Raids that are scheduled for nights other than Thurs and Sunday are optional.
It is expected that raiders will usually make both mandatory raids a week. If a player is unable to make the minimum for a consecutive number of weeks, the matter will be discussed with officers. In the case that a raider is unable to make any raids for an extended period of time, they may be asked to leave the guild until they are able to do so. This is to ensure that we remain focused as a guild.
If you feel you are being left out of runs consecutively please talk first to your class chief. There may be an issue with gear/spec or even how you are playing your class. The first person you should be talking to is your class chief. Getting the gear to be able to attend mandatory raids is an obligation of the individual. Since the officers coordinate events they try to provide the opportunity for people to get geared, but in the end it is their responsibility to do so.
2. Raid Selection
Raid spots are given out to those signed up on the in game WoW Calender depending on the following:
- Class make-up needed for that raid's encounters.
- Online and ready for an invite prior to raid time.
- Signed up on the Calender (NOT BY SIGNUP TIME OR ORDER)
- Players that have stepped out for someone else in a previous raid. (equal opportunity)
- Which characters the guild is specifically working to gear upgrade.
- Slots will go to "Main" raiding toons before people are asked to bring in an Alt.
Signing up on the calender does not guarantee a raid slot. It is a tool that allows us to know who is planning on being online and ready to go for raid time. It lets the officers plan ahead and get the ball rolling. It also lets the raid leader send invites from the signup list which makes invites much easier.
If people repeatedly sign up and don't show, they will be demoted. If this continues, they will be under review for removal from the guild.
If you are not fully enchanted/gemed and have flasks/elixirs and food, you will get low priority for raid slots.
Rank and Alts vs Main
Main toons will get priority raid slots over alt toons.
In the case where 2 raiders are competing for one slot with all other factors being equal (gear, skill, raids attended that week, etc), the decision will be made by the Raid Leader in consultation with the Role Chief(s).
Dual Talent Specification
Every raider must have a main talent specification. This is considered their Main Spec, and any other spec (wether Dual speced or not), is considered Offspec. Check the Raiding List to make sure your Main spec is listed (healer, tank, ranged dps, melee dps).
Standby Slots
If a raid is oversubscribed, we do have standby slots for raiders. Generally, they will earn equivalent EP to someone in the raid, assuming they are available for the length of the raid. The following conditions must be met:
- Players must indicate to and get confirmation from the loot master that they plan to be available on standby status.
- Players must stay online/available until the end of the scheduled raid.
- Players must be available to join the raid as a substitute without delay when requested, i.e. - not "after this boss attempt".
- During standby, players may play on an alt, a non-guilded alt, or even be logged out as long as we know how to contact you for a quick substitution.
- If you are substituted out mid-raid, you will be rewarded full standby EP from that point forward if you notify the loot master that you wish to be placed on standby status. If you elect not to be on standby, you will be given EP only for the portion of the raid you participated in.
- If you are late to attend a raid and the raid is full, you can still opt to be placed on standby. Please confirm your standby status with the loot master and you will qualify for partial EP identical to what the raid earns from the point after you log in.
- If we notice that you are not following these rules during this time, you are subject to forefiture of all earned standby EP for the raid.
- It's the individual players' responsibility to verify they received standby EP at the end of the raid.
Optional Raid Nights
If we have a raid going on an optional night, it is up to the raid leader’s discretion who he/she takes on the run. The raid leaders try their best to get everyone in at some point in the week. Some people will be left out for the above reasons, the leaders will try and minimize this as best they can.
Non guild members
When we have recruitment open we may take non guild members on both 10 and 25 man runs.
3. Raid Leadership
25 man raids are lead by Raid Leaders or Chiefs.
4. Raiding outside the Guild
For 25 man instances we are actively running, we require that members do not lock themselves out by attending non-guild events.
For 10 mans there is no restriction. HOWEVER, if you continually lock yourself out of our 10 man raids YOU HAVE NO RECOURSE if you have issues with not getting into our 10 man runs. Please do not do non-guild 10 mans on 25 man raid nights when we need you in the 25 man. If you are online for the duration of the raid on a raid night, you are expected to be available to attend the raid.
Our policy boils down to not interfering with our raid progression. This means being available for raiding, and not being locked out. For further information talk to either your Chief, Raid Leader or the Guild Leader.
5. Raid Attendance
- It is expected that everyone will signup as "Attending" or "Not Attending" on Raid Nights (atm Thursday and Sunday).
If you're early you're on time, if you're on time you're late and if you're late you're DONE.
The point to this is that if a raid starts at 5:30pm server, you should be online and ready to go by 5:15. If you logon after raid time starts and are not ready, you will not go. If you login even 5 min prior, the raid may be full. It is your responsibility to be ready to start killing trash in the instance when the raid is scheduled to start.
If you think you're going to be cutting it close, get your toon ready the night before (repaired, food, pots, reagents, ammo, not pvp flagged) and leave it at the instance. - With the Calender it is possible to say you are, or are not attending a raid. If you know in advance that you can't make it, please sign as "Not Attending". This will give raid leaders a better idea of who may, or may not make it.
- Regarding PVPing before the raid: there is nothing wrong with it especially to pass time before the raid. BUT, if you show up flagged you inevitably turn other people pvp as they heal/buff you and then we have to wait for everyone to unflag. This slows the raid down and is totally unnecessary. The answer is simple; stop PVPing 5 min or more prior to raid invite or jump on a bird and you will unflag. You know when the raid is, so there is no excuse.
6. Raid Start and End Times
Raid starts will normally be 5:30 pm SERVER time. This is when trash mobs will be pulled. You are asked to be on 15 min prior in order to give yourself the best possibility of getting a raid slot. If you think you may be late, please logout in front of the instance ready to raid (repaired, food, pots, not pvp flagged).
Raids end 3 hours after start time - all raid attendees are expected to stay for the full three hours. If you would like to attend a raid but cannot stay the full 3 hours, you must let the raid leader know in advance, and you will be invited at the raid leader's discretion.
Certainly emergencies or unexpected obligations can occur in the middle of the raid. If this happens, let the raid leader know immediately, so a replacement can be found or the raid can otherwise adjust with minimal disruption.
We realize everyone has outside commitments and try to be flexible, just consider the raids needs as well.
7. Raider Probation
We are a raiding guild, and we want all raiders to contribute equally to our success. If the officers feel that a particular raider is performing at a level significantly below that of other raiders, we need to address that problem. This policy outlines a process for doing that.
The officers are always monitoring the performance of the guild. If the officers identify a particular raider as one about whom to be concerned, they will first discuss to make sure that probationary status is warranted. If so, an officer will contact that raider directly. This contact will be either by whisper in-game or in vent.
The initial contact will inform the raider that the officers are concerned, and describe specifically the area of concern - e.g. dps, situational awareness, healing output, tank threat, gearing/spec choices, etc. The officer will inform the raider of his or her probationary status, and set a timetable for a future performance review, typically 2-4 weeks.
The raider is now on probationary status. This status is private (not visible to the guild at large). During probationary status, the officers will be paying special attention to the raider's improvement in the designated area. The raider is encouraged to seek help from officers and other players as well as websites to improve their performance. Officers will be open about their perception of the raider's improvement during the course of probation.
At the time designated for the performance review, an officer and the raider will meet again, either in vent or via whisper. At this time, either the raider will be removed from probation (if performance has improved sufficiently), or the raider will be asked to leave the guild.
Under normal circumstances, raiders will not be gkicked directly from raider status, only from probationary status. Exceptions include prolonged inactivity, antisocial behavior, and other extreme circumstances.
8. Final Thoughts
How this guild works, and its success (or lack therefore) is ultimately up to the guild members. The officers are just players who want to see the guild succeed and its members enjoy themselves. It is up to everyone, most importantly the guild members, to establish the atmosphere and keep the game fun. So please try to look outside of your toon's immediate desires and try to think of the guild as a whole, and how you want your experience in WoW to be.
